Meet Rowena

Whether it’s your elderly Chihuahua or rambunctious pit mix, persnickety cat or even backyard chickens and pigs, I’m ready and willing to give them the love and care they need.

“Animal lover through and through”*

*(If you don’t believe me, that’s what two clients wrote in their testimonials…)

Growing up in Princeton, NJ, I became friends with every dog in the neighborhood despite my parents' wariness of canines. In my 20s I worked as the dog handler for the Seavey sled dog racing family in Alaska, socializing, exercising and training the puppies as well as caring for the remaining dogs while the competitive teams ran the Iditarod. My working life has included running the Fairbanks Public Library bookmobile, cooking in Seattle restaurants, managing a fair-trade store and working on small farms… and all along taking care of friends’ and neighbors’ animals on the side.

For over a decade now, I’ve been a professional dog walker/pet-sitter, working sometimes on my own and sometimes for a couple of very fine dog-walking services. I’m independent again, working for the simple joy of it.

I take your pets’ care seriously and am diligent about keeping their schedules, administering medications as needed, caring for them according to detailed instructions, and making sure they’re as comfortable as possible while you’re away.
